Punchin dwarves while rollin … moor[ve]s.

It makes sense, kinda.

Also, drinking from a bowl since all the cups are dirty = pro. Next step, drinking from a plate.

Text 16 Jan 378 notes Letter of the Day: The Devil and Mister Robertson

thedailywhat:

Satan (in the form of Minneapolis resident Lilly Coyle) writes an open letter to Pat Robertson, excoriating the televangelist for his claim that the Haiti quake was the direct consequence of the put-upon nation’s long-standing pact with him.

From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

Dear Pat Robertson,

I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I’m all over that action.

But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I’m no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished.

Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth — glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle. Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven’t you seen “Crossroads”? Or “Damn Yankees”?

If I had a thing going with Haiti, there’d be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox — that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style. Nothing against it — I’m just saying: Not how I roll.

You’re doing great work, Pat, and I don’t want to clip your wings — just, come on, you’re making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad. Keep blaming God. That’s working. But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract.

Best, Satan.

I started an internship on the 12th. I was rather crafted (yes, crafted and not crafty) and managed to get it to not only cover my last political science degree requirement but also my last sociology degree requirement. I basically sit around the Kentucky state capitol doing odd jobs and watching things unfold, refold and rhetuna (I surely hope thats not a real word).

The first day was rather dull, nothing too exciting, as to be expected on first days. Though I did get a spectaulicious security badge made which came with one of those things… the things with the things in them which make them do that one thing. Clips on, you can pull it out on its cord then when you let go it retracts back in. I could play with that for hours. And I did.

This was followed by an typical day of classes where I sit around drifting in and out of paying attention and being rather exceptionally taciturn.

Then back to Frankfort to do some more interning. Attended a House session which was almost fully taken up by a bluegrass band with bobby osbourne (I hear he is some sort of legend) playing about 6 songs (5 encores) and then every intern being introduced by their assigned House rep. Also, bean soup day. Seems like it was some sort of big deal. BEAN SOUP! It was decent, spicy and free so I can’t complain. Well, technically I can complain still, I would just have less to complain about than I would before.

Also, it seems my flickr page has been receiving quite a bit more attention than it was before. http://www.flickr.com/photos/srwilliampicard/

… I still can’t believe how poorly some people know maps.

I completely understand if you can’t locate every last country on a map but if you point to Canada and seriously mean it when you say “Ulan Bator” [maybe a skosh of an extreme case]… enough to make me weep.

Science has yet to reject the paper… good sign?

Took Nature about a month to finally reject it in the best way: [paraphrase] “This is too high brow for our readership.”

Its just filled with all sorts of math, physics and Lorentzian goodness.

…I better start playing D&D to seem less nerdy.

Photo 1 Jan No way this year will be better than the last.I don’t want to hear anyone saying ‘two-thousand ten’. ‘Twenty-ten’ is better in every way. Every. Besides for that one, but we can overlook that.
